Problems recording with SityTrail France

My Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) no longer records trails correctly. It now records only occasional points with straight lines between them and not every point as previously. This has been happening the last 4 or 5 times I use it to record a trail. Previously it always worked correctly.
Is this a SityTrail problem or is my phone gps malfunctioning.
BTW it always finds the current position correctly. Using a different App (GoogleMaps or Coyote) it follows where I am quite correctly.

Can you please check that you have not enabled an energy / battery saving mode in the settings of your device?

Some of these modes disable the GPS when the screen is not turned on.
